Age Criteria for Research Assistant & Statistical Assistant Posts

Applicants applying for the positions of Research Assistant and Statistical Assistant should be between 18 to 37 years old as of January 16, 2024. There are relaxations applicable as per the rules. If you have any questions about age requirements, please refer to the official notification for more details.

  • Candidates belonging to the S.E.B.C. category (S.A.5. Scale) who have obtained the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (as per the Government of Gujarat’s sample in Gujarati) for the financial years 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023 from 01/04/2021 to 16/01/2024 will be eligible for reservation in government jobs.
  • They should possess the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate as per the prescribed format mentioned in Schedule-4, and they will receive benefits of age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats during the recruitment process.
  • For candidates belonging to the E.W.S. category (as economically weaker sections), who have obtained the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for the financial years 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 as per the Government of Gujarat’s social justice and empowerment department’s resolution dated 25/01/2019, will be eligible for reservation in government jobs.
  • They should possess the Non-Creamy Layer Certificate as per the prescribed format mentioned in Schedule-4, and they will receive benefits of age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats during the recruitment process.
  • However, candidates in the E.W.S. category must obtain their certificates online while applying.

Details about Age Criteria

  1. As per the resolution mentioned above, the validity of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificates issued will be applicable from the date of issue until the end of the current calendar year. Candidates with valid certificates obtained between 17/01/2021 and 16/01/2024 will be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats during the recruitment process.
  2. Candidates eligible for reservation under the Ex-Servicemen (E.S.M.), P.H., and S.A. Scale categories who have served in the Army, Navy, or Air Force and possess the prescribed certificate issued by the competent authority during the specified period, as per the government’s circular GS/2018-(2)-RES-1085/3433/G-2, will be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats.
  3. Candidates with a disability of 40% or more shall be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats. They must possess a valid certificate issued by the competent authority. The certificate issued by the government-appointed Superintendent/Principal of the Government Hospital as per the government’s resolution dated 01/12/2008 will be considered valid.
  4. Former servicemen who have worked in the Army, Navy, or Air Force and possess a certificate verifying their ability as a skilled handicapped person and also carry the Craftsmanship certificate will be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats.
  5. Former servicemen who have retired due to natural reasons and are competent in their respective fields, having completed three terms after the commencement of their duty, will be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats. They will need to submit their self-declaration for verification.
  6. Former government employees who have served in the capacity of a Clerk, Junior Clerk, or Class-3 or Class-4 employees and have retired due to any reason will be eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation in non-reserved seats.
  7. The upper age limit for all categories of candidates will not exceed 45 years as of 16/01/2024 in any circumstances.
  8. Candidates who have retired or are retiring and have completed at least 45 years of service in the specified fields mentioned in the government’s circular GS/2018-(2)-RES-1085/3433/G-2 will be eligible for the upper age limit relaxation up to 45 years.
  9. Candidates who are eligible for age relaxation and category-based reservation as per the online application process and then later become ineligible due to any changes or discrepancies will not be considered for such benefits.

Exam Overview: The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) will conduct a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) for the recruitment of various positions as per the resolution dated 08/11/2023.

Exam Format: The exam will be a competitive MCQ-based test held in a single session.

Multiple Sessions: The number of sessions for the exam will be determined based on the number of registered candidates.

Multi-Session Scaling: A suitable scaling methodology will be applied for the evaluation in case of a multi-session exam.

નક્કી કરી શકાશે નહીં. પરીક્ષાના Part-A અને Part-B માં ન્યુનતમ ગુણવત્તા ધોરણ
(Qualifying Standard) જાળવીને કુલ ગુણના આધારે કુલ જગ્યાના આશરે દોઢ ગણા
ઉમેદવારોને પ્રમાણપત્રોની ચકાસણી માટે મંડળ દ્વારા લાયક (કવોલીફાય) ગણવામાં આવશે.

Basic Computer Knowledge Requirement for Candidates

Candidates applying for the general category of the State Government, as per the government’s resolutions dated 13/08/2008 and 18/03/2016, with reference number CRR-10-007-103-05-G.5, should possess basic computer knowledge as per the specified educational qualifications. The following certifications/documents will be considered valid:

  1. Any educational qualification or mark sheet related to computer knowledge from a recognized institution as per the government’s circular GS/2018-(2)-RES-1085/3433/G-2 will be accepted.
  2. Candidates who have completed any course or diploma in computer education from an institution approved by the government and possess the corresponding certificate will be eligible.
  3. Candidates holding a degree or diploma in computer science, computer applications, or related fields will be considered eligible.
  4. Certificates showing successful completion of the 10th or 12th-grade examination with a computer as one of the subjects will also be accepted.

Candidates possessing any of the above-mentioned qualifications are required to submit a total of five certificates along with their application. However, those candidates who have passed the computer knowledge examination in the 10th or 12th-grade are exempted from submitting five certificates. Such candidates need to indicate their qualification by marking “R” in the relevant category of computer proficiency in the application form.

Preparation of Merit List for Admission/Selection:

Candidates who have obtained merit in the competitive examination conducted by the state as per the resolution dated 27/07/2018 (Reference: PSC/1089/3910/G-2) will be considered for admission/selection. The selection list will be prepared based on the merit obtained in the examination, categorized as per the guidelines mentioned in the resolution.

  2. Two separate combined advertisements will be issued for the purpose of preparing the merit list for the competitive examination. General Instructions For All candidate


General Instructions: (1) The candidate who has filled the application form online in the entire recruitment process will be required to submit the original documents for verification at the time of the final selection. Other candidates who apply offline will be required to submit their proofs during the document verification process. Additionally, any candidate whose name ends with ‘R’ in the roll number will also be included in the document verification process.

(2) If a candidate uploads a photo in the online application form, they must keep multiple copies of the passport-sized photo with them. These copies will be used for document verification throughout the recruitment process. The same photo copy should be used during the exam attendance and also during the verification of original documents.

(3) Candidates should keep their mobile numbers active during the recruitment process. In the future, the board may send important information or updates related to the examination through SMS on the registered mobile number. Therefore, the mobile number provided in the application should be valid until the completion of the recruitment process.

(4) In case the board needs to contact a candidate for any reason related to the recruitment, it may use any available means like contacting the candidate directly or through any authorized representative. For this purpose, the board may use the name of another person, the candidate’s own name, or create fake documents to communicate with the candidate. The candidate should be cautious and verify the authenticity of such communications.

(5) Any attempt to obtain undue favors or manipulate the recruitment process by a candidate may lead to disqualification. The board has the right to take legal action against candidates who submit fake documents or indulge in any unethical practices during the recruitment process.

(6) If any candidate is found guilty of using unfair means or attempting to cheat during the examination, or if they are found possessing any unauthorized material, the board may take strict action against them, including canceling their examination and disqualifying them from future exams.

(7) Candidates are advised not to engage in any form of plagiarism or use any unauthorized means to obtain information during the examination. If a candidate is found using someone else’s answers or any other unfair means, their candidature may be canceled.

(8) Avoid including inappropriate or offensive content in any written communication, as it may lead to disqualification from the recruitment process.

(9) Use of any electronic devices or any means to communicate during the examination other than those permitted by the board is strictly prohibited.

(10) The board reserves the right to take appropriate action against any candidate found violating the rules and regulations of the examination.

(11) In case of any discrepancy in the information provided by a candidate, the board may take corrective measures, including canceling the candidate’s application or disqualifying them from the recruitment process.
